How to check the work
- Check direction before beauty: a letter drawn top-to-bottom is correct even if it looks shaky.
- Mark only two errors per page. More than that and the child stops reading your marks.
- For puzzle sheets, the answer key is the last page of the PDF — print it separately and keep it aside.
- Re-print the same sheet after two weeks and compare: that comparison is the real progress report.
Print checklist (30 seconds)
- Paper: plain A4 or US Letter, 90–120 g/m² so markers do not bleed through.

How to use it, step by step
- Print on the thickest paper your printer accepts, or glue the sheet onto cereal-box card before cutting.
- Cut along the outer lines; the centre line only marks the two halves.
- Deal seven tiles each and keep the rest face down as the pile.
- Youngest player starts with any tile; the next must match one open end.
- No matching tile? Draw one. First to empty their hand wins the round.
Three ways to make it harder (or easier)
- Counting version: match tiles whose dots add up to a target number instead of matching equal ends.
- Silent version: no talking, only placing — good for concentration.
- Solitaire: lay the whole set in one continuous chain with no gaps.
Mistakes that ruin the activity
- Cutting on the centre line and ending up with 56 halves instead of 28 tiles.
- Printing on thin paper; tiles curl and the dots show through from the back.
- Playing with all 28 in hand — deal seven, or young children lose track.
